This is a set of interconnected pages and animations on various aspects of neurobiology. The main page is a set of 11 questions, where each question sets up a certain problem along the lines of 'given a cell with the following pumps, what will happen to each type of pump when you artifcially raise the membrane potential by this amount?. The student is then asked to figure out the answer to that problem by clicking through the stack
Though very simple, I think this is a big step up from most text-on-the-computer programs because it does not attempt to just replicate a study guide on screen. Instead, the students are given a goal and asked to get the information to meet that goal. This encourages thinking, rather than just clicking. I hope that more of the textbook-on-a-CD things start going this route. That said, this site is pretty plain and simple - but it should be good for students who want to brush up on some of the basic concepts in neurobiology.
